Furcapoda aitherios is named for its forked legs and ethereal beauty. These spectacular creatures never leave the sky because their veins are full of a lighter than air liquid which keeps them eternally airborne. It is said that being int he presence of an aitherios induces feelings of euphoria and that these creatures have no predators simply because not even the most savage beasts are immune to the sight of their elegance. The aitherios are peaceful nectar feeders and will adopt a field or forest of flowers as their territory, and with their hypnotic beauty guard the delicate blossoms from anyone who would harm them.
I think this is amazing! I actually think the head works with the body. The little critter looks so sweet, and the color palate you selected is perfect! Lovely job.
I agree with another poster- the head is too freaky for the ethereal beauty thing other than the head though it is a very interesting and attractive critter!
Yeah I realized the head might put some people off but I decided I'd indulge in my own ideas of beauty and add a bit of a goose-neck barnacle-like head, as I find them bizarrely beautiful. I figured I could get away with it since the rest of the creature fits more into the standard realm of beauty.
The wings and tail are beautifully colored! But (for me) the strange head and insect-like legs take away from their 'etheral beauty'. Very imaginative, though!
Thanks, yeah I knew not everyone would like the head but I thought I might be able to get away with a goose-neck barnacle like head(I find them strangely beautiful) since the rest of the design is tailored to more mainstream ideas of beauty.
It looks like this was influenced by a bunch of different critters; it all comes together to form something recognizable, yet still alien and fantastic. Well done!
